This is my complete video of the Basildon Council Meeting on 11th February. I know the video and sound quality is not great but it's hard to get a good view from the public gallery. The reason for posting these is so that members of the public can see what was debated. The audio recordings provided by the council are much more difficult to search through because it is harder to identify speakers. A few councillors also told me that they had found that recordings I had done before were useful for checking on what was said.
The main debate at this meeting was on the Council Budget. A massive slash of government funding has forced some controversial cost cutting that was discussed here. Other interesting debates covered grammar schools and waste facilities, and there was an announcement on devolution for Essex. I also put in a public question myself about traveller site allocations in the local plan. The evening's discussions kicked of on a lighter note, with a vote to award Basildon sports heros Matt Whitlock and Charles Bingham with the status of freemen of the borough.
